Phase 3Week 9 · Lesson 3
Reactive Balance
12 minutesChair or counter, partner (optional)
Everything you've practiced so far has been anticipatory balance — you knew the challenge was coming and could prepare for it. Stand on one leg. Walk heel-to-toe. Step sideways. Your brain planned the movement before it happened.
Reactive balance is different. It's what happens when something unexpected occurs — a stumble on a cracked sidewalk, a bump from someone in a crowd, a slip on a wet floor, a dog pulling suddenly on a leash. These moments don't give you time to plan. Your body must react automatically, instantly, and effectively.
